My Little Boy is all Grown Up

I am grateful that this whole 'Alex is turning one' thing has gradually come upon me. Otherwise, I would be a wreck! This year has flown by and has been full of amazing memories. I love my boy! He is everything to me and I get jealous of myself from time to time that I get to be with him and tend him everyday. How spoiled am I? Yes, he follows me where ever I go (mostly whining for me to pick him up). Yes, daddy is his most favorite person in the whole world and always has a HUGE smile for him. And yes, daddy is the only one who truly can successfully feed him. But I wouldn't change any of it. I can't believe how fast the time goes and I don't want it to! But alas, here we are 365 days later. So much has changed! Here is this year in review:

His first birthday with his first very own cake

One year stats:
Weight: 22 lbs (41% percentile)
Height: 29.75 inches (48% percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.5 inches (68% percentile)
Favorite Food: Oh depends on the day. He loves beans, strawberries, yogurt, raspberries and cheese
Words: Dada, mama, ba (ball), ni ni (night night), he knows what an elephant, tiger and sometimes a dog say

Loves:
  • Bath time with dad
  • Music (its pretty cute when he dances)
  • Pretty girls
  • HIS BLANKIE!!!
  • Observing people
  • Animals!
  • Books!
  • Opening and closing anything - pens, bottles, chapstick, anything that can be opened and shut
Hates:
  • When daddy leaves for school
  • THE VACCUM (He'll sit and scream at it. And he draws blood while clinging to me if its on)
  • Men (Hate is a strong word, but he really really doesn't like them)
  • Sitting still for more than 5 seconds
  • Sudden noises (kid is the jumpiest I've ever seen)

We still don't see many physical attributes that tie him to Daniel or I. He has my ears and feet. Blue eyes could have come from either side, though his parents don't have them. He is getting blonde hair from Daniel. Looks like his head is on its way to being Jacobs, although it has shrunk percentile wise... Oh well! We love him and are so excited for the next year. May it be a lot slower and full of not too many growing up things! :-)

PARTY!

My boy is one. We'll take a walk down memory lane a little later. But first we had a huge bash for him! Over half of the guests came in from Utah. It was a BEAUTIFUL spring day and we had a fantastic time! Picture time:
Kinda dark, but here's his spread. We had a farm theme + balloons. Lots and lots of balloons
The decorated family room

Yummy food!
The birthday boy's seat. Thanks for decorating it Andi!
Da grub! MMMMMM
More grub! MMMMM
The cake me and my sisters built - he had a separate one, it was a cow but for some reason I didn't take a picture of it. So imagine a square cake that looks like a cow :-)
The birthday boy eating lunch. Pulled pork and strawberries- YUM!
Matthew and Lar came too! YEAH!!
My sisters surprised me! I really wanted them to come but they said they couldn't. Then 2 days before the event they show up at my house! What an AWESOME surprise! LOVED it! SO glad you guys came!!!! SO SO GLAD!
Daniels BFF Richie and his friend Andi made the drive for the U2 concert we went to that night! SO FUN!
Matthew and baby Jocy
All the little babies! Addi, Kason and Joslyn. All born within three weeks of each other. It looks like we went from smallest to largest....
It got a little too windy for the pool so they just played outside of it!
Tammy and Addi!
He sees the birthday cake....
AND ITS ALL HIS?!?!?! WOO HOO!
Oh he was so happy he got the cake all to himself!
Mean 'ol mom took away the marshmallow so he would actually eat the cake
Theres the good stuff!
LOVE this one! Isn't he precious?!
Again- love it
My little gremlin
The whole family!
He didn't want us so close to his cake so he was pushing our faces away with his cakey hands :-)
See- frosting all over ourselves. Tanks Al
Mmmmmm cake!
Then we had a little pinata - it was a cute barn. Everyone got to hit it with a tire iron (Daniel was in charge :-)) So fun!
Taylee taking a whack at it
Trace, the first boy to hit it, really made it swing
Tanner could hardly wait to get his turn!
Gavin- Alex's best good friend
Bree wanted mamas help. The boys are going 'what'?
Sadie closed her eyes every time she hit it- so cute!
Then Anna knocked it down...
And Matthew and Daniel helped finish it off!
Tay was so happy
They were quite selective in their candy choices... so strange. Usually you need cushions when it breaks to stop all of the craziness- not this time. They just kinda walked over and began selecting the candy of their choice.
Alex wanted some!
This boy loves sucking until something sweet comes out!
Wrapper 'n' all!
The loot! 8 1/2 lbs of loot. We have SO much left over! I was shocked! I thought the kids would be all over it! Ya, not so much...
My little birthday boy :-)
Tay showin us her blue tongue
I LOVE this girls faces- she is so adorable
So sweet!
We had a great time at his party! Thanks to everyone who came! Thank you for all the wonderful gifts! We are so so glad you came to celebrate with us! Happy Birthday little Alex! We love you!
